LumaCaption (“the service”, “we”) is a web application that adds captions to videos. Processing happens on your own device, in your browser. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.
You upload or record video/audio locally; the app renders captioned video on your device, and your video file is never uploaded. Captions run on one of two engines: Candy Lite transcribes fully on your device, while Candy Ultra (used only when you have Ultra minutes and it fits your budget) sends the extracted audio to our third-party transcription providers for premium accuracy. We store your account identity, plan, usage counters (transcription minutes) and payment records so the service can meter and bill usage.
Sign-in is via Google. You are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person; sharing an account to pool transcription minutes is not allowed.
Each plan includes a monthly allowance of Candy Ultra minutes and a per-video length limit, as shown on the pricing page. Allowances reset on a rolling monthly window. Referral bonus minutes are valid only within the window in which they were earned. We may throttle or suspend accounts that abuse quotas, referrals, coupons or the payment flow.
Paid plans are billed through Razorpay in INR. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; cancelling keeps your benefits until the end of the paid period. The Lifetime plan is a one-time purchase for the lifetime of the service. See the Refund & Cancellation policy for details.
You keep all rights to your videos, audio and transcripts. Because processing is on-device, we never receive them. You are responsible for having the rights to the media you caption.
The service itself — its source code, caption-rendering engine, animation and motion logic, style presets, typography treatments and visual design — is our original work and remains our property. It is proprietary and all rights are reserved. Using the service does not grant you any licence to it beyond using it as offered.
Any transmission of the software to your device occurs solely to operate the service for you, and grants you no licence to it. Access does not confer any right to copy, retain or reuse it. You may not reverse engineer, decompile or extract the source from any bundle or package; copy, port or translate it into another language or framework; extract or reuse our style presets, animation parameters or easing curves; incorporate any part of it into another product or service; or use it as training data for machine learning models. This applies equally whether the copying is performed by a person or by an automated system, AI agent or code-generation tool acting on someone’s behalf.
We monitor for unauthorised copies and pursue infringement through takedown notices to hosting providers, app stores and CDNs, and through other remedies available to us. For licensing enquiries, contact support@lumacaption.com.
Don’t use the service to produce unlawful content, don’t attempt to bypass plan limits or tamper with the billing flow, and don’t resell the service without our written permission.
Transcription is automatic and not guaranteed to be error-free — review captions before publishing. The service is provided “as is”; to the maximum extent permitted by law our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.
