How it works
Add the final cut
Add the video that you intend to publish and select its spoken language.
Review words and timing
Correct names, numbers and unclear speech. Check cues at the beginning and end.
Download and test the SRT
Import it alongside the same video in your destination player and verify synchronisation.
Choose SRT when your destination accepts subtitle files and viewers should be able to turn captions on or off. Choose a captioned video when the exact font and motion need to be visible everywhere the file plays.
LumaCaption’s SRT export contains text and timings. It does not include the animated style shown in the editor.
- Editable before download
- Correct names and numbers in the transcript before generating the file.
- Cue-level timestamps
- Word timings are grouped into subtitle cues with start and end times.
- Separate from the picture
- The destination player decides how a loaded SRT track appears.
- No download quota
- SRT downloads are unlimited; transcription still uses your plan’s minutes.
Read one cue
A basic cue has an index, a timing line such as 00:00:04,120 --> 00:00:06,480, the caption text, and a blank line before the next cue. SRT uses a comma before milliseconds.
Save or transfer the file as UTF-8 when working with Hindi or other non-ASCII text. If characters become boxes or garbled symbols, check encoding and the destination player’s font support.
Fix an SRT that does not match the video
First confirm that the SRT belongs to the same final cut. A new intro or trimmed opening shifts timestamps. Check whether the first cue, a middle cue and the last cue align.
SRT players differ in their support for basic formatting tags. For portable results, use plain text. Animated words, branded fonts and complex positioning are not preserved by this export.
Common questions
Is generating an SRT completely unlimited?
Free includes 5 Candy Ultra minutes and 20 Candy Lite minutes per month, videos up to 2 minutes, and 1080p export. Styles and exports are unlimited, with no added watermark. SRT downloads themselves are unlimited.
Can I use an SRT in any video player?
Many players and editors support SRT, but support is destination-specific. Check the player’s subtitle import requirements.
Does the video leave my device?
The video stays on your device. Both Candy Lite and Candy Ultra send extracted audio for cloud transcription; sign-in and an internet connection are required.
