How it works
Choose a representative clip
Keep the free test within 2 minutes and include a difficult phrase.
Compare the complete job
Review transcript, timing, styling, export and any essential extra features.
Decide from the result
Compare current plan terms and total workflow cost before changing subscriptions.
A useful comparison starts with the job you need to finish. Generating captions for a finished clip is different from finding highlights in a long recording or adding a broader set of video edits.
We describe only LumaCaption’s capabilities and limits here. We do not assume that another product lacks a feature, transcribes poorly or charges for every re-render.
- Test with a real clip
- Use your usual accent, microphone and technical terms. Count corrections rather than trusting an accuracy slogan.
- Review the script choice
- If you caption Hindi, try both Devanagari and Roman Hindi. Roman output uses Candy Ultra.
- Compare the full workload
- Check transcription minutes, maximum clip length and resolution as separate limits.
A fair side-by-side test
Use the same finished clip in both products. Note how many words you correct, whether the timing needs attention and whether the final text fits the frame. Export a file from each, since a preview alone does not test delivery.
List every feature you depend on beyond captions. If another tool handles an essential part of your production, replacing it may mean adding a second tool instead of making a direct swap.
What LumaCaption includes, and where it stops
All caption styles and watermark-free exports are available on the free plan. Transcription is metered separately, at 20 Lite and 5 Ultra minutes a month on free, for videos of up to 2 minutes.
LumaCaption sends extracted audio for online transcription and keeps the video file local, so the captioning workflow is not fully offline. It also cannot import an existing SRT file.

Common questions
Is LumaCaption a complete replacement for Submagic?
Not necessarily. Test every feature you rely on, including work outside captioning. We do not claim feature-for-feature equivalence with Submagic.
What does LumaCaption cost?
There is a free plan. On monthly billing, Creator is ₹199 and Pro is ₹999. The pricing page has current allowances and billing options.
Can I try Hinglish before paying?
Yes. Roman-script Hinglish draws on the 5 Candy Ultra minutes the free plan gives you each month.
